    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Dear SourceForge.net Users,

As the site continues to grow, we want to make sure you have fast access
to the latest software being developed on SourceForge.net. The site
currently serves approximately one million file downloads a day, and the
traffic is growing. This past month, we have increased our network of
download mirrors to better serve you and to make sure the software you
desire is located at a server close to you.

While we manage these servers, we do not supply the bandwidth or
hardware. The infrastructure is provided by organizations who want to
give back to SourceForge.net and the Open Source community. Often these
mirrors supply over 50 megabits per second, which is a sizable amount.
The SourceForge.net team would like to thank the new mirrors listed
    below for their contributions:

    Voxel Dot Net
    -------------
    Mirror location: New York, USA.
    http://www.voxel.net/
Voxel Dot Net is a leading provider of managed hosting services designed
for any organization that requires a robust Internet presence.

    Optus
    -----
    Mirror Location: Sydney, Australia
    http://www.optusnet.com.au/
Optus is an Australian leader in integrated communications, serving more
than six million customers each day. The company provides a broad range
of communications services, including mobile, national, and long
distance services, local telephony, international telephony, business
network services, Internet and satellite services, and subscription
    television.

    Puzzle ITC
    ----------
    Mirror location: Bern, Switzerland
    http://www.puzzle.ch/
Puzzle ITC provides software development services based on Open Source
products and standards in the B2B sector. Additional services include
knowledge leasing and application hosting and housing.

I would also like to thank our existing mirrors for their continued
support of SourceForge.net. We couldn't do it without you.

On a related note, we are looking for an additional mirror on the west
coast of the United States. If you are part of an organization on the
west coast that has bandwidth to spare (50Mbps+) and you would like to
support SourceForge.net, please email pat@sf.net with the subject line
    "bandwidth."

Finally, If you have any questions or issues related to SourceForge.net,
please feel free to email me directly at pat@sf.net.

    Thank you. Happy coding.

    Pat-

    Director, SourceForge.net

June Project of the month: AWStats
    -----------------------------------------------
Web site managers need to have a clear idea how much traffic their site
receives on a daily basis. While there are many log file analyzers
available on the Internet (many at no cost), they typically don't
provide a good marriage of statistics analysis and graphical display of
that data. AWStats, SourceForge.net's June 2004 Project of the month, is
a multiplatform Open Source log analyzer that provides all the
statistics a webmaster needs, presented in a very professional, dynamic
report. It takes only a quick glance at the project's online demo to see
why so many Web professionals are downloading and deploying this
software. AWStats has been on SF.net since October 2000 and has had
    400,000 downloads since its inception.

    SourceForge.net Service Enhancements
    ------------------------------------
The SourceForge.net team is continuing its work on the CVS
infrastructure and statistics system as discussed in our last
sitewide mailing. In addition to these projects, we have
recent rolled out several other new features, as documented at:
    https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=19242&group_id=1

Most significant, we now offer project admins the ability to remove
posts from their mailing list archives. This feature allows
project admins to remove posts that contain sensitive information
(such as phone numbers that were not meant to be released) and
to eliminate past spam from their list archives, if desired.

The SourceForge.net team has also completed a significant
infrastructure update (in support of our upcoming CVS changes)
in that we have moved to a more maintainable, supportable
Unix directory (for users, groups, and group membership).
In cooperation with the libnss-mysql project, an Open Source
project hosted on SourceForge.net, we transitioned off of LDAP
several weeks ago, resolving a number of long-standing bugs
    in the process.

We at SourceForge.net continue to improve our service offering, both
with new features, and through the improvement of stability and
functionality for existing features, as to better serve the community.

As always, requests for assistance or new features may be made
    using the instructions at:
    https://sourceforge.net/support/getsupport.php?group_id=1

    SourceForge.net Subscriptions - Free T-shirt
    --------------------------------------------
SF.net subscribers receive a full array of exciting features, including
priority technical support. We have extended our offer for a free
T-shirt (from ThinkGeek.com) when you sign up for an annual
SourceForge.net subscription. Sign up today for a subscription and
    help support SourceForge.net: http://sourceforge.net/subscription.php

Communication between project developers and end-users is one of the
most important factors in successful development. SourceForge.net
provides a number of services to increase the effectiveness of
communication, including our Tracker system (for bug reporting and
support requests), Web-based discussion forums, and email-based mailing
    lists.

When the SF.net team sends out a site-wide email, we sometimes see
replies that look like this: "Hey! I didn't ask to be on this list! You
spammer. I hate you! I hate your dog! (insert other colorful phrases
here)." The truth is, when you registered on SourceForge.net there was a
check box that said "Receive Site-wide updates, low volume." You left it
checked when you submitted the registration form, hence you are
receiving this email. We send these updates every 4 to 6 weeks, so it
truly is low volume. However if you want off, this is not a problem.
