problem with samsung harddisk on ATA-controller & linux (Partition check [PTBL])

if i try to use an samsung sv0411n with linux (SuSE 8.1 / Kernel
2.4.19-4GB), I can not boot, beacuse kernel hangs with:

If i connect harddisk to 'normal' IDE-Controller (insteade of ATA66
Controller),
it works :-(but slow)
