hi,
I have a dual boot machine with windows 98 and Redhat Linux 6.0.I
dont use LILO for booting and instead use a boot floppy for booting.I
had not used linux for quite sometime, and while i tried to boot it a
couple of days back it just hanged at the place where it starts the
kernel services(After prompting for interactive startup, and even
interactive setup dosent work as it dosent respond to my pressing the
I.I cant even go to single user mode or do anything because the root
fs is still not mounted).
Setting Kernel Parameters [OK] Its just waits indefinately here.
Then i got hold of a Redhat Linux 7.2 CD and installed it.But to my
utter surprise it just stops at the same place.I thought maybe the
hard disk is corrupted/someting and i changed the partition types and
went into windows and ran scandisk and disk defragmentor on those
drives and later again installed to see the same problem once again. It
dosent do any disk activity at the time it waits indefinately and even
i have left the machine for 1/2 an hour like that and still it dosent
proceed.
Can anybody help me out.Iam stuck, and i did a bit googling and but
didnt find anything relevant.
any help will be highly appreciated.
