The problem with being pedantic is it can really backfire when you are
wrong. Calling it "The X Windowing System", though incorrect, is
understandable; I know what you mean. But if you have previously been
intolerant of people calling it "X Windows" then you deserve what you
get. Maybe the fact that I quite often get things wrong has shaped my
tolerance of other people's terminology and/or mistakes.

At any rate, I stand by my view that it is not something worth getting
in a huff about. There are certainly more important issues. Like
people calling automobiles "cars"! THERE is something important! Those
people just get on my nerves.
