Problem solved! (at least so far.)
Thanks to all for the support, most specially rdgentry1. I will use
your information to further explore the embedded Linux system on the
2420.
The problem was:
As I suspected and as was confirmed in my repeated watchings of the
data tap info... the connection was being terminated early by the
camera. (I would think a subtle bug in the camera.) The camera
provides a setting for the ISP connection which allows for optimizing
the connection. i.e. The instant the camera sees that the connection
is quiet the connection is terminated. (btw that is the default
setting "optimized".) By simply selecting a wait time of 15 seconds or
so the camera wouldn't terminate the connection in the middle of the
jpg transfer.... problem solved.
Thanks again,
John
