For Intel x86 CPUs and gcc/glibc.
Something like 'ideal mode' a.k.a. pixie on SGI/MIPS: produce stable
profiles, accurate to the cycle, and that dont change from run to run
(provided of course the files are stable and the app is not timed,
threaded,...) (And yes, I know, that's necessarily at the cost of
ignoring all cache issues!)
I have googled for something like that, preferrably opensource but
commercialware acceptable (because of the usefulness); but no success.
