gettid

Hi There

I run redhat enterprise server 3 with linux 2.4.21-27
it suppose to be a function gettid that returns the thread
id of the current process (works like getpid in earlyer versions)
i can see a man page but i cant compile this function in my code
Do you now if exist ?
