ls help required

    hi all,

    can anybody please tell me what is the command for listing only
    filenames in the current directory.

    e.g:-
    when i do :
    $ ls *.txt
    it shud give :
    1.txt
    2.txt
    as a output if( 1.txt and 2.txt are the files in the current directory
    , i donat want contents of child directories)...

    please help me... if anybody knows..
