Request for Recomandation: Looking for a simple web based costumer relation software

Hello to all,

I'm starting with a new software project, which
until now is only in preliminary definition state.
It seems the closest description of what the customer
wants is a CRM system with only primitive reporting
capabilities.

The scenario:

* Employees of a marketing company place their displays
   in locations like cinemas, supermarkets etc.

* After the job they should use a web based reporting
   system tracking such things as (1) number of seats
   in the cinema (2) size of the supermarket, number of
   customer contacts etc. (3) free text fields for summary
   informations.

* The system should be able to track such informations
   in an underlying RDBMS and generate statistics and reports
   by time/customer etc.

I have experiences in maintaining SQL databases, writing
in Java,C(++) and perl. Not much experiences in PHP but
willing to learn. I know how to configure an Apache and
deal with SQL databases. Any recommendations for a Open Source
system which comes closest to this ?
