serial port

hello,

I am able to write and read data to and from serial port on my machine.
but if I telnet my system from a dumb terminal, which too has one
serial port and connect the device to the dumb terminal the program
doesn't write to the device I connect to the dumb terminal.
how can I do it. please help.
