Does anyone know how to correctly build the current X11R7.1
release from www.x.org? I've downloaded all tarballs (with .bz2
extension) from http://ftp.x.org/pub/X11R7.1/src/ but there are
still some depencies missing (xextproto, ...) It seem's that most
of these depencies reside under http://ftp.x.org/pub/individual
but i don't know which packages are still needed - Should i also
download the whole individual-tree?
No, the problem is with X.org. It seems they want to make building
more complex and difficult, though I don't know why. The
dependencies you need are in the 7.0 tree. You'd have to manually
sort out the new ones and mix them together with unchanged 7.0
packages.
I suspect you understand german, so have a look at this blog entry:
http://blog.fefe.de/?ts=ba46957d
I tried to compile it on sparc64 but files for SBUS support were
missing from the xserver package. So I tried using some 7.1
packages, and after some painful manual dependency corrections it
compiled almost until the end, and finally ended with an
unresolved "syntax error".
I'm searching for a full, "Ready-For-Building" package(s) in a
compact way. Any hints?
Yes:

Only a few packages -- worked like a charm on sparc64.
Though I had problems with PCI cards, and the mailing list is quite
dead.
