app developement

hi,

i'd like to develop a few apps for my personal use which is more or less
like a personal info manager with a neat GUI. i've used VB. But it will be
*great* if the app can be cross platform compatible. Is this possible with
Qt or Python. Also can anyone pls give me a comparison between these ?? Any
good IDE available for these ???

Thanks in advance.
