Are you sure it isn't /usr/sbin?
I'm trying to compile a library (GMP) using GCC. 'configure' says:
configure:19131: error: No usable m4 in $PATH or /usr/5bin (see
config.log for reasons).
(/usr/5bin doesn't exist).
I just pasted config.log.
Then you should check your environment and the log file in more detail
to find the cause.
Also, 'configure' says "permission denied" forDoes /bin/m4 or /usr/bin/m4 exist?
/usr/bin/m4 and /bin/m4.
What should I do?
Yes. I compiled m4 and I putted it there.
Why didn't you just install the distribution's version?
If not, use your distribution's package manager to install m4.
I have Ubuntu and I installed the whole programming package. Where could I
find a ready to use m4?
% dpkg -S $(which m4)
m4: /usr/bin/m4
So, "sudo apt-get install m4"...

Roger
