out of memory during compilation

Hello all,

I'm trying to compile and install
an application from original
sources but get an out of memory
error from g++. I think this happens
because i use an old computer
(with 64MB RAM; Debian 4.0 Etch;
KDE 3.5 and i'm trying to compile
kvpnc).

Does anybody know how to solve
this problem without changing the
computer to much? I thought
about the following approaches:

- temporary increase the size of the swap
partition ... but how?

- somehow (?) use the resources of
another computer (with 1 GB RAM
and a much faster CPU)
which is connected via LAN with the
old computer.
Unfortunately this other computer has
Windows XP as an OS. So if I want to
use it somehow i assume it has to happen
under a Knoppix like OS?

Will any of these approaches work or
is there another approach?

Thanks for your help.

With best Regards
Karl
