hi,
how is it possible that a non-existant process holds a lock on a file?
i've got almost 1000 sendmail processes piled up in the last 19 hours,
waiting for a read lock on /etc/mail/aliases.db (which has inode number
3679340), and the process holding the write lock seems long gone:
/proc/locks:
[...]
7: POSIX ADVISORY WRITE 32163 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bdd54 c09327f4 c13bdca0 00000000 c13bd96c
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 8901 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bd960 c13bd9c0 c023ed78 c13bdd54 c13bd9c8
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 8908 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bd9bc c13bda1c c13bd964 c13bdd54 c13bda24
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 8917 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bda18 c13bdc44 c13bd9c0 c13bdd54 c13bdc4c
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 10001 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bdc40 c13bd514 c13bda1c c13bdd54 c13bd51c
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 10002 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bd510 c13bd7f4 c13bdc44 c13bdd54 c13bd7fc
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 10789 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bd7f0 c13bd628 c13bd514 c13bdd54 c13bd630
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 11409 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bd624 c13bde6c c13bd7f4 c13bdd54 c13bde74
7: -> POSIX ADVISORY READ 11650 03:06:3679340 0 EOF c13bde68 c13bdec8 c13bd628 c13bdd54 c13bded0
[...]
process 32163 doesn't show up in `ps aux`, `ls /proc |grep 32163` returns nothing.
any ideas?
do i need to reboot the machine? <yuck!>
