bus architecture: Document/tutorial

Hi,
  I was trying to understand how the different
buses(PCI,Bridge,ISA,SMbus etc) are connected to
each other but I am not getting proper documents.
What I was looking for is something that will
tell me what is "bus adapter","host bridge",
"pci-to-pci bridge" etc, I want to know how the
whole system is interconnected and what role
each of these component play.
  I am looking this info specificallyly from the
PC/AT architecture perspective. Also could
someone point me to some document-repository
location used by Linux-kernel developer
community.
