In fact it was intentionally made not good enough to compete with IBM's
VAX machines. Which also explains the choice of processor, which was
just about the worst available in its class.
Even back in the XT era I was already wondering what drove people to
spend $2000 on such a lousy system.. so I stuck to my CPC until I could
afford an Atari ST and then progressed via an Atari Falcon to a Mac G4.
Life indeed can be fun. :)
