Good IDE

I had originally thought I would port my Visual Studio C++ to Linux by
developing it on Linux using make and vi, but, after installing Red
Hat 9, I was pleasantly surpised to find something called KDevelop.

Unfortunately, the shipped KDevelop seemed to have some issues when I
first fired it up, and although there is a newer one I'm sure, I have
to ask, what other IDE's out there are like it? Is Eclipse in the
same category?

I'm not looking to start a flame war. The appeal to Linux for me is
that the costs of Windows development have gone through the roof, and
most of the people interested in my product would rather have it on
Linux than on Windows. But, I just would like to know what some
people's opinions are, and, if you are an old vi + make + gdb guy, I'd
certainly like to hear votes in that dept too.
