Problem with file access

    I have some files on my system which appear to have a problem.

    One of them is this:
    du: cannot access `portage/app-text/opensp/files/digest-opensp-1.5':
    Permission denied

    The permission of this file is:
    rw-r--r-- 1 root root 63 May 7 2003 digest-opensp-1.5-r1

    and when I do stat on this file I also get permission denied.

    Any ideas how to correct this? I'm using reiserfs with gentoo 1.4 and the file
    is on the root partition.
