perfctr problem with kernel 2.6.0

    Hi

    I plan to monitor the performance of the various processor parameters
    on the nodes of a Beowulf Linux Cluster. This requires the patching of
    the linux kernel on each node of the cluster with the perfctr patch.

    I have patched a 2.6.0 kernel with the perfctr 2.6.3 patch. However
    when I type
    "make menuconfig" after applying the patch I get the following error
    message

    scripts/kconfig/mconf arch/i386/Kconfig
    arch/i386/Kconfig:799: can't open file "drivers/perfctr/Kconfig"
    make[1]: *** [menuconfig] Error 1
    make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2

    Can anyone please let me know the probable cause of the problem
