hi
i'm very grateful for everyones advice..this system is intended to run in a
smelter, continuously 24 by 7, as a standalone pc application driving and
reading from external hardware. at this point, based on what everyone has
said, it seems that i should configure my java gui swing program to run on
a linux system with X only running. Will this be reliable enough, can it
run for a month without a crash? Do i have to use any special libraries to
use only X (i'll be looking into this soon) ?
another thing, my program is going to be a touch screen program..so there is
no keyboard input..which means if this system crashes, well, possible
problem.. what should happen then, user hit reboot and the O.S.
automatically launches my program, or perhaps a better way ?
if anyone knows about any touchscreen programming resources let me know .
