how to make kernel premptible..?

hello all,

I am working on XRTS operating system which is a variant of unix
operating system. I am trying make the kernel partially premptive. At
present it is fully non premeptive with no priorities in the tasks. I
am readin the kernel of linux 2.6 too get to various isses involved in
it.

However, is there any good documentations available to this specific
work.? Any pointers would be helpful.
