can we change maximum transfer unit of the excisting ethernet card

hi frnd,
im sathiyadev, working in kernel development, ur cmp
developing storage device, they r mean to change the speed of the
maximum data transfer unit of the e1000 card.And we also mean to change
the tx_queue of the card . pls clarify.
