How about trying out with knoppix to test the hardware-compatibility. And
then install linux (you should decide yourself, which distribution you want
to use) on *one* workstation. And play around with it.
If the configuration of linux-workstation is finished (so it could be used
productived in your company), you could show it to your boss.
Or you may set up this workstation on a workplace and everyone should be
able to try out this workstation.
