To do so, I do

K7S5A
* I have enabled "Wake on Lan" in the BIOS of my pc
to you motherboard from your LAN board...
BTW: Did your m/b power supply combination delivers a "good" +5V standby
voltage? (i.e. does it deliver enough current at this line?)
On my server, which is directly connected to my pc, i typeIs i/f eth2 connected to the same LAN (collision domain) as your targeted
ether-wake -i eth2 00:D0:09:EC:CE:C4
PC? Does this i/f have more than on IP address? If yes you'd need to
specify a (or one) broadcast address from one of the IP addresses. This
would be good in any case, though.
but nothing happens.
I tried this with my pc switched off and in hibernate mode, but still has
power.
What other devices are between these two PCs? Maybe there is
some "intelligent" switch (managed layer 2/3) which decides to not
broadcast on layer2 because IP settings tell him so... This would be
difficult to solve w/o some network admin help.
A good test for this would be to test it with the *same* cables/connectors
with your "known good Laptop-Server combination".
HTH. Salut, Jörg
