The SB Live uses module emu10k1 or audigy in the oss sound system or
snd-emu10k1 in the alsa sound system. All 3 modules are aboard by
default when the system is installed.

Open draksound from a root prompt and you will be given the choice of
all 3 modules.

Mandrake should have installed module snd-emu10k1 by default but the
system may have started muted. Open the kmix mixer and if the panel
icon is crossed-out, right click on it and deselect "mute"

There may be other causes for not getting sound and other things to try,
but try the above first and if you then don't get sound, run these
commands from a user prompt and get back to us with the results.

lspci | grep -i audio
and
grep sound /etc/modules.conf
