Looking to get a new system. Looking to get the best deal. Any sugestions
for a motherboard (P4) thats inexpensive but has a good enough quality to
use as a server? I also want to run 2 hard drives (Ultra 160) in a Raid 1
Configuration so should I be looking for a controller with Raid 1 built in
or should I be running software raid? Is software raid built into Linux
(Red Hat 9)? Since I will be running a fairly large database I would like
to maximize the Ultra 160 bandwidth (not looking at 320 right now). I figure
hard drive access will be the bottleneck on this server. If you could
please include links to the manufacturers sites.
thanks,
Andrew
