I'd like to use a Logitech Optical Mouse (model M-BJ58) with USB
interface on a Dell Dimension 4300 running Red Hat Linux 7.3 (kernel
2.4.18-3).
I think I've tried every option in mouseconfig. The results are either
the display goes blank during boot (before starting X), or it boots,
but even the tiniest movement of the mouse causes the mouse cursor to
jump all over the screen, opening various popup menus in the process.
The same mouse works on a default installation of Yellow Dog Linux 2.2
for PPC running on a Macintosh 7500.
I'm a Linux beginner, so detailed suggestions would be appreciated.
Please respond to this group. Thanks.
