Hi!
I want to use my old Pentium MMX 133MHz/64MB RAM as a file Server. Kernel
version is currently 2.4.21, but it is no problem to update to 2.4.22 or
2.6. Currently it runs with a 3GB hard disk, which is very loud. 3GB is
also very small.
The problem is that I'm afraid, the bios has the 32GB bug. I've read that
Linux speaks directly with the hard drive and not through the bios. "The
Linux Documentation" says, that the bios versions that have this bug, does
not boot all hard drives has a jumper to identify themself as a 32GB
drive. Does the Kernel automatically detect the full capacity if it is limited
to 32GB?
I don't think that my bios has the 8GB bug. I've read that the bios will
boot anyway, but the disk capacity is wrong. Does the Kernel automatically
detect the full capacity? Even if the disk is bigger than 32GB?
