Hello,
Having some problems with my RedHat 9 install and I'm hoping
someone could give me a hand. I am fairly new to Linux, not a beginner
but no where near savy either. I have installed RedHat 9 on a box that
is already running WinXP with dual displays. All devices work in XP and
my goal is to do the same with RedHat and eventually have that as the
primary OS. Here is my config;
ASUS P4S8X Motherboard SiS 648 Chipset,SiS900 onboard NIC,Firewire &
USB2.0
Pentium 4 2.53 GHz CPU
1.5 GB RAM
120GB Hard Drive (20GB set aside for RedHat)
ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500DV AGP (Primary)
ATI Rage 128 PCI (Secondary)
SoundBlaster Audigy Platnium
Plextor DVD ROM/CD-RW
CD ROM
Ext. HP DVD200e DVD writer (FireWire connected)
I have installed RH9 in a dual boot mode. I can successfully boot both
OSes. RH appears to boot ok, displays GUI login and seems to run X
windows ok on the primary monitor. Sound, and the NIC do not work. It
says they are detected but do not function. According to Windows Device
Manager both are on IRQ 19 but when I use the GUI Net Conf in RedHat the
IRQs for the NIC only go up to 15.
So here are my questions; How do get the sound and the NIC to work? How
do I get the dual displays running? How can I test to make sure
everything else is up and configured properly? Any diags I can run?
