Anyone know what I have to do to get non-root accounts to have sound in
Debian B2.4 kernel using the SoundBlaster Live! card? After I did a
gdmconfig and signed on as root, my KDE sound came to life with no fiddling.
As so as I log out to a normal user account, errors come up about /dev/dsp
using a null device because ..blah blah blah...
Apparently, /dev/dsp does not have adequate permission to work under normal
user accounts. Why would a Debian install default this way???
I am NOT a programmer and my knees shake at the command line...so what's a
quick fix to get the SB Live1 to work in all accounts?
Thanks
J. Guida
