That thought had occurred to me. I don't think that it is strictly a
hardware compatibility problem, though, since
the same video card works perfectly under Windows 98 on the same
motherboard and chipset. This implies that even if the problem is a
somehow traceable to the AGP version, a software-driver-based resolution is
possible.
The documented system requirements for the Radeon 9500 Pro calls for an
AGP 2x/4x/8x slot, without specifying which AGP versions are supported.
AGP 1.0 supports 1x and 2x and should logically be supported, based on the
available information.
