My video card has one each of DB9 and DB15. My monitor took DB9, so
that's what I used on the computer end. The computer and monitor are both
eight years old. The Kayak has the HD15 connector, which has three rows
of pins.

Mine doesn't know the resolution and refresh limits, so if I push it too
far I get a squiggly screen until it resets. I don't know what else those
extra pins do.

Well, the the adaptor in one direction would cost around $2.50, and gender
changers for $1.32 and $1.75. Miracles of www.pricewatch.com. It took me
to www.sfcable.com, which has some amazing prices on those sorts of
things.
If I can't get a definitive answer I'll just go ahead and try it. I've
been thinking of getting a new monitor, anyway.
