Well, I got the network driver working. It turns out that I just
needed to do a modprobe nvnet. However, since installing the nForce
drivers for Linux, I can't seem to compile my kernel or get the audio
working. When I tried compiling the kernel with the settings
specified in the instructions, GCC failed with a segmentation fault at
one point. Also, when my machine boots into Linux, I noticed warnings
regarding the audio device. I tried installing the audio module using
modprobe and insmod, which gave me errors as well.
Running modprobe nvaudio gave me the following output:
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: init_module: No
such device
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: Hint: insmod
errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid
IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: insmod nvaudio
failed
and running insmod nvaudio gave me this output:
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: unresolved symbol
ac97_probe_codec
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: unresolved symbol
ac97_set_dac_rate
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o: unresolved symbol
ac97_set_adc_rate
Using /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o
These are the problems I'm experiencing with the nForce2 drivers.
Have you experienced such problems compiling the kernel or installing
the modules?
