That's pretty old. If you look at the date of the PDF, it's June 2003.
They've just recently released new drivers for Linux. Go to this page to
download:
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

It seems they support Radeon 8500->9800.

AFAIK if you look at the hardware compatibility for RH9.0, out of the box
they support 3D for some radeon versions and 2D for a couple of others.

The Radeon 700 PCI cards are not supported, though I've seen reports they work on some Alpha boxes -- the particular one I've seen has had some minor display artifact. ...
