This driver has serious problems. There's a recent thread on
linux-kernel about it. No one even knows where to begin working on a
fix. Unless they're doing it in secret.
But ignoring that for the moment..
You should use the Linux software RAID (md driver). The hpt37x chips
do not do hardware RAID. They're advertised as such, but this is
fraud. The drivers handle the RAID. Considering that, would you rather
use a more standard and better-supported and more reliable and
maintainable RAID driver? Or a nasty hack that only exists to make a
marketing lie semi-true.
But you'll have to wait until someone fixes the drivers anyway.
