I have been testing two AMD Athlons running some benchmark
calculations. The 'time' commands returns:
1) AMD Athlon MP 1900+ (1600.029 MHz/bogomips: 3172.64): 5177.474u
22.019s 1:26:46.73 99.8% 0+0k 0+0io 3063pf+0w
2) AMD Athlon MP 2800+ (2133.405 MHz/bogomips: 4230.52): 4432.423u
53.195s 1:14:49.17 99.9% 0+0k 0+0io 3063pf+0w
The user CPU time goes down as expected when running the faster CPU,
but the system time goes up ! Does anybody have a clue as to why or
how I can get more detailed information allowing me to understand
this...?
I am running 2.4.18-24.7.xsmp, Red Hat Linux 7.3, gcc version 2.96
with 3GB of memory.
All the best,
Trond Saue
