It might be the chipset on your motherboard. A friend has an All in Wonder
on a MSI motherboard with an nVida chipset with poor results. No problem
when he replaced the ATI with a GeForce card. The All in Wonder was put
into anther MSI motherboard with a VIA chipset and it worked fine.

I am weighing the risk of it no longer running Windows without ... but never tried upgrading mobo without installing fresh OS. ...
