Sure, you can run X with any res you like, subject to
hardware limits.

They have 'universal' drivers for download. I think you
should be fine unless its brand new. That right folks?

Lists the 'FX 5600' - same thing to the software?
The lastest version adds support
for the 5900. Its a pity ATI support for laptops
isnt as good as nVidia.
It tells you how to set X resolution too.
