You could look at http://www.hamrick.com/ for information about a
shareware application called Vuescan and see if you can locate one of
its supported scanners. I use Vuescan with a Nikon Coolscan III. There
is a list of caveats about what's supported and what isn't in the way
of Linux distributions and kernel releases so you might want to look
at that before you spend any money.
