I've had exactly one problem with each Maxtor drive I've ever owned,
starting back at the 40 megabyte point. I've had zero problems with all
the WD drives I've owned, starting at the 1 GB point.
Except for the 1.2GB Maxtor that flat out died, the problems with the
other Maxtors were resolved by low-level formatting.
