I cannot seem to see my network (or router) with my wireless card. The
system seems to see the card. I used the network configuration utility
to set the card up as the only network device and to run dhcp. Still I
can't see the rest of my network and I'm not sure why.
I'm using a Lucent Tech (Orinoco) pcmcia wireless card on my Laptop running
RH 8.0. The system does detect the card correctly and loads the module for
it (wvlan_cs). The system gives me the two good beeps when booting and the
lights on the card come on like it's happy. I'm using a Belkin wireless
router. The system is dual boot and the wireless system works fine with
Windows so I know the hardware is fine.
ifconfig yields:

iwconfig eth1 yields:

route yields:

When I try to add a default route to my router the system just says that
the "Network is unreachable"
I notice that iwconfig shows an encryption key but I am not running WEP on
my router (I live a good 1/2 mile from my nearest neighbor and the road).
I set the ESSID to WLAN though my router calls it SSID. Could this be my
problem?
I've played at this for a while and gotten nowhere. Any help or suggestions
on how to trouble shoot this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James Kimble
