Hello.

I have a plexwriter 12/10/32S scsi model, which worked perfectly.
I didn't have not even one coaster.

Yesterday, it stopped in the middle of a cd with an error.
Firstly, i thought it was a buffer under-run.
Since then, it does it in all cds.

I give the following information that you may need:

"cdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: no error
CDB: 2A 00 00 05 79 8A 00 00 1F 00
status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
Sense Bytes: F0 00 03 00 05 7A 20 0A 00 00 00 00 0C 07 00 00
Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0
Sense Code: 0x0C Qual 0x07 (write error - recovery needed) Fru 0x0
Sense flags: Blk 358944 (valid)
cmd finished after 0.001s timeout 40s

write track data: error after 734810112 bytes
cdrecord: A write error occured.
cdrecord: Please properly read the error message above."

This is at the end of the cd, but the data fit the cd.
I also tried with 699mb iso in order to check that.

When i tried to read the cd, i got the following almost same error.

"readcd: Input/output error. read_cd: scsi sendcmd: no error
CDB: BE 00 00 05 75 82 00 00 23 F8 01 00
status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
Sense Bytes: F0 00 03 00 05 75 A2 0A 00 00 00 00 15 00 00 00
Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0
Sense Code: 0x15 Qual 0x00 (random positioning error) Fru 0x0
Sense flags: Blk 357794 (valid)
cmd finished after 0.387s timeout 40s"

I use linux.
The following is a part from my kernel log.

"Linux version 2.4.23 (gcc version 3.2) #2 Mon Dec 22 00:51:58 EET 2003

SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00

Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 32x/32x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray"

As you see, i use the same kernel, as of 22 December and i have 1.06
firmware for some time also, without any problem.

When, the problem occured i had not touched anything so that it could be
the cause.
I burned 2 cd yersterday perfectly, and i have 8 coasters today.

Firstly, i thought that because the first 2 were last of a 50 spindle,
maybe they were damaged (because of the "medium error" message) but then
i tried 3 different brands of cds.

I cannot figure out what is the problem.

Both cdrecord/cdrdao do that.
I have the same version of cdrecord/cdrdao for long time.
cdrecord 2.01a19 / cdrdao 1.1.7
Also, i used my old 2.4.22 kernel and the same.

As i mentioned, i didn't mess with anything, for this
issue to happen.

I put a second disk and tried with Windows 98/Nero
and the burn process went fine.

I will be grateful if you could give me a clue.
If you need any more information please tell me.

I am sorry for my long post.
Thank you for your time.
