Canon 300 BJ printer - can't get black.

    I am using a Canon 300 printer with Mandrake 9.2. Colour is fine, but the
    best black I can get, even on the test page, is a gray. It seems to have a
    silvery look, apparently because the individual ink-drops are almost
    visible. The driver is Ghostscript + gimp-print-ijs. It works fine under
    Windows.

    Any ideas please.
