I recently got an Abit NF7 board, with onboard audio and LAN, an AMD
Athlon XP 2600+, 512MB DDR PC2700 RAM, Maxtor 60GB 7200 RPM on the
primary master, a BTC 52x CD-RW drive on the primary slave, a WD 250GB
7200 RPM drive on the secondary master, and lastly an Asus GeForce
FX5700 video card. I have installed Mandrake 9.2 rc1 and Slackware 8.1,
on this computer, both were clean installs. Ususally when I'm trying to
compile a program, I run the command ./configure <options> in the source
tree of the unpacked tarball. The machine goes through a few checks
under ./configure and then freezes. I've swapped out the RAM from my
other similar machine and that didn't fix anything. I'm thinking its the
processor, but I don't want to pull the proc if not neccessary. Can
anyone give me some clues as to what to check? The proccessor isn't
getting to hot. Thank you for your help.
