Wanting to install Debian and been reading over the pre-install
instruction. Suppose to find the Vertical and Horizontal refresh rates
for my monitor. Well went to the "System Info Software" I have and
found one entry saying "vertical refresh: default." Emailed the people
that made the monitor and of course heard zip from them. Here is what I
have so far on the monitor:
rom AIDA32
Monitor ID: MEIA40A
Manufacture Date: Week 44/ 1998
Serial Number: 8441606
from back of monitor

Display
Card name : ATI 3D Rage Pro (atir3)
Manufacturer : ATI Technologies
Chip type : Mach64: RagePro
DAC type : Internal
PnP or PCI ID : PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4742
Display Memory : 8 MB
Driver : atir3.drv
Version : 4.10.00.1720 "4.10.1720" English Final Retail
Date and Size : 11/24/98 08:02:00 352320 bytes Certified
Current files : atir3.drv(English),*vdd,*vflatd,atir3.vxd(English)
Refresh rate : 0 (uses Default rate)
Resolution : 1024 x 768
Colors : 16.7M (32 Bits/Pixel, 1 Plane(s))
Is there perhaps a place I can go to find the "Default rate" for this
monitor. Also getting the idea that a display is different from a
monitor. Going to spend some time today reading up on that. Seem to be
differnet drivers for each. Anyone with a "thumb nail" explanation of
the "display/monitor" difference would be appreciated.
Hope all this rambling on hasn't been to "perfectly Nixonion" but need
the vertical and horizontal refresh rates for my monitor.
