Hi.
I got a Wiseland 2 port serial PCI card (www.microwise.com) card from my
local retailer. It is a ITE8874F chipset.
Website had Linux patches but no instructions. The patches were to
drivers/char/serial.c and drivers/parport/parport_pc.c and appeared to
be against 2.4.4
My system (Redhat 7.3, 2.4.20-20 kernel) already seems to have the
changes (or a version of them) for parport_pc.c:
case 0x8:
DPRINTK (KERN_DEBUG "parport_pc: ITE8874 found (2S)\n");
But no sign of their patch in 2.4.20's serial.c.
I've tried various versions of parport_pc including their patch.
Also tried applying their patch to serial.c
All without success. Can see the card in lspci but cannot get the card to be
detected. Sent e-mail to Ted.Wen@ite.com.tw (saw some posts from him on lkml
about the driver) but no reply.
Can anyone offer any tips to get this card to work with 2.4.20 kernel.
-or-
Can anyone suggest an alternative 2 port PCI card (< $50) which will work
out of the box without having to patch the kernel. Looking for something that
won't require multiple hours of fiddling.
Would appreciate a Cc: if possible to: tony -at- tonyjones -dot- com
Thanks!
Tony
