I don't think you're going to find an 8 channel card for under $200, but
I would still strongly encourage you to consider a delta card
(www.midiman.com). The Linux support is the best you could hope for.
(You have to use Alsa drivers, but that's a GOOD thing IMHO).
Delta 1010 LT is probably your best bet for 8 channel, but that's twice
your budget.
Another possibility is to use multiple cards. Again, M-audio delta
cards might be your best bet. I've gotten two A/P 2496 cards to play
nice for 4 channels of input, never tried it with output.
