I've got a line on some 486 DX2 50 mhz tablet type portable computers. I
think this would be just the ticket for some in-house or in-car
entertaintment - these things are cheapet than a 5" LCD screen. They were
made by Fujitsu and are the ST-500 model.
They can run linux.
But... They come with 12 MB ram and a 240-360 MB hard disk. The screen
is 640x480. The interface is "pen computer", which I'm guessing is some
sort of touch screen.
I'm thinking that I can set them up as idiot terminals (X terms) using
something like LTSP, and have a "real" computer serve up movies. The
interface I'm using is a point-and-click browser for movie selection
anyway, so this would be ideal.
Any chance something like this might run mplayer?
