So, why don't you the try the most recent "official" cdrecord-ProDVD,
which is free of charge for private, non-commercial use?

See above. Try again with cdrecord-ProDVD, and omit any GUI frontend
at least for debugging.

Well, I don't know about this particular drive - but to me it seems
rather unlikely TAO not being supported. OTOH, I _do_ know you
have to use RAW mode for SAO writing with some CD and DVD burners.
(Not the ones I have, though.)
But this message is another hint, your distributor or whoever might
have done a lousy job in modifying the cdrtools sources...

Checkout "-checkdrv" and/or "-prcap" switches, too.
BTW: Guessing from your cc-TLD, your native language might be German
(well, some dialect ;-))). Therefore, you may find more support in
the NG de.comp.hardware.laufwerke.brenner, where Jörg Schilling
(the author of the cdrtools) is among the regular readers and posters.
But be warned: He'll answer only to people using the regular cdrtools
versions...
